Meet Alay Thanki
Alay Thanki, Founder of 101 Minerals, comes from a family with generations of experience in mining and industrial minerals. Growing up around the mineral ecosystem gave him early exposure to its practical realities, from sourcing and operations to relationships, market dynamics and the way business gets done.
Before entering the mineral industry, Alay began his professional career with a Big Four firm, where he gained firsthand exposure to how businesses operate through structured processes, systems and controls. The experience developed a strong understanding of financial and operational discipline, attention to detail, process efficiency and the importance of reliable information in making business decisions.
When he later entered mineral trade, his industry background did not remove the challenges of fragmented information, limited transparency, trust barriers and dependence on established networks. It revealed an opportunity: to build a platform that makes mineral trade more accessible, structured and driven by the product itself.
